Rain World sees you presented with a sequence that focuses on a family of cute little creatures called slugcats. A hybrid of a cat and a slug we presume. In the sequence, there is a terrible storm, and one of the slugcats gets separated from the family, falling down a drain into the depths below. You play as that slugcat.
Reaching that level of proficiency takes time, but Rain World’s approach to progression makes that time for you. One of the many axes of difficulty in Rain World is its “karma” mechanic, which prevents players from moving past a region until they have survived a certain number of cycles in a row. This can be frustrating because it penalizes the already inconvenient and demoralizing process of in-game death. However, there is also a kind of liberation in this system; once you’ve hit the lowest karma possible, there’s nothing more to lose by dying. To me, it felt like the game was telling me that it was okay to fail, that I was not expected to be able to cope with all of the challenges facing me yet. In the many cycles that I found myself with minimum karma, I was free to play adventurously, to explore both the world and the controls of the slugcat. As I did so, I began to worry less about the vague idea of progress and more about just existing in Rain World as it was, indulging in the joy of discovery.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. (.186 BA) and Austin Wells (.098 BA) also have struggled.
Yankees: Rizzo is playing through two fractured fingers on his right hand, which is a pain tolerance issue, as the fractures won’t heal until the offseason. Infielder DJ LeMahieu (right hip impingement) has been continuing to hit and field throughout the playoffs.

Next game of the world series
The Yankees are up against it now. Only 15 teams in 92 tries have won a best-of-seven postseason series in which they dropped the first two games. And so, as their Game 3 starter Clarke Schmidt takes the ball opposite the Dodgers’ Walker Buehler, they’re going to need to feed off the energy of a hungry crowd that hasn’t seen a World Series home game in the Bronx since the Yanks’ 2009 title run.
The Yankees are trying to become just the second team ever — joining the 2004 Red Sox in the ALCS — to win a postseason series after trailing 3-0. They’ve already become the first World Series team in 10 tries to fall behind 3-0 and force a Game 5 (the most recent had been the 1970 Reds).
However, these two clubs have a long, shared history in the postseason. No two teams have faced off against each other in the World Series more than these two. Come Friday, it will be the 12th time the Pinstripes and Boys in Blue went head-to-head in Major League Baseball’s most prestigious event.
As for the Dodgers, the four innings Landon Knack ate in a bullpen game in Game 4 loom large for Game 5. Because now, behind starter Jack Flaherty, they can call upon any of their high-leverage relief arms in this one.
“No one’s done what we’re trying to accomplish ,” said catcher Austin Wells, “so I think if you put too much pressure on it at this point, you’re going to fail yourself, and you’re not going to enjoy the journey. I think seeing what happens and having fun is where we’re at.”
